Again, the Problem with "Consensus"

Sampling error is a bitch, and media and political bias doesn't help at all

Climate change and COVID19 are not the only “issues” whose underlying nature have been obscured by the problem of confusing popularity of view with actuality. The same problem has dogged the Western world’s perception about the Ukrainian difficulty. Fortunately, the worm seems to be turning. It is no doubt helping that turning worm that another winter is coming to energy-poor Europe, and that mid-term political elections are also coming to the US at the same time. Misbegotten actions eventually do have consequences even for those holding closely to inaccurate, but popular views and opinions.
