CITIZENSHIP has responsibilities.... and society as a whole should teach these.... however what we have is an enemy within the flock ... the fifth column.... currently taxes are imposed and spent on propaganda that teaches counter citizenship... so our own resources are spent on destroying ourselves when the opposite propaganda could be deployed.... we have prisons and are willing to pay for this to keep society 'safe' .... preventing the fifth column from destroying the moral foundation of our society is well within the rights of the society we live in... and probably much cheaper as I think it takes a lot of effort to destroy basci moral character of people... yet once a brushfire is set a lot of damage is done especially if there is no fire department...

I think we're seeing the start of a reversal to what you describe, though. Although, as you say, our own resources are and have been spent destroying ourselves, the various destructive factors in operation are drawing increasing amounts of attention to themselves the longer they act. I think this attention, in turn, has already sparked off something of a backfire to the initial, previously unhindered brushfire. Hopefully, the backfire that has been set will be enough to limit the ongoing brushfire before it burns out everything in sight, including itself.

A SUPERIOR society and culture would work on teaching and upholding the values upon which it is built.... such as in our case the Constitution and Bill of Rights.... if effectively taught and we spend a lot to teach stuff although now mostly propaganda.... if taught well and immersing citizens in it... I bet the danger and some bad behavior of police ...would pretty much disappear..

I agree, but this sort of thing has to come about without force or other coercion. Don't know that enough people are 'in the mood' for moving in this mutual direction yet. I appreciate the comment.
