The US Center for Disease Control (CDC) has decided that kids should continue to wear masks while vaccinated adults don’t have to. For details, see https://nypost.com/2021/05/15/school-kids-should-stay-masked-despite-new-rules-for-vaccinated-adults-cdc/.
Judging by the context that the FDA has very recently given American Pharma the green light for administering COVID19 vaccines to children in the US as young as 12, this particular CDC announcement appears to be a slightly oblique, Cass Sunstein-style attempt at nudging1 American parents into giving their children COVID19 vaccinations. Once vaccinated, the kids can then be — presto chango — freed of their masks, just like their vaccinated parents.
In view of the vanishingly small numbers of deaths from COVID19 in the US citizenry under the age of 18 (340 TOTAL such COVID19 deaths from 1/1/20 to 5/8/21)2, the FDA decision to approve COVID19 vaccination of American children is extremely questionable on scientific grounds. Further, taking into account lab evidence3 that COVID19 vaccine spike proteins are extremely similar to human proteins that play an integral and critical part in human reproduction and therefore might interfere with that reproduction process post-vaccination, the apparently coordinated announcements of the FDA and CDC are also potentially very dangerous.
The previous post here on Grundvilk high-lighted the efforts of two American women, Drs. Lindsay and Margulis, to get the CDC to become much more cautious with regard to continuation of the ongoing US COVID19 vaccination campaign. Their efforts strongly echo the actions of FDA inspector Frances Kelsey in the early 1960s with regard to the birth-defect causing drug, thalidomide. The incomplete and hurried COVID19 vaccination testing also echoes that causally associated with the thalidomide tragedy:4
In July of 1962, president John F. Kennedy and the American press began praising their heroine, FDA inspector Frances Kelsey, who prevented the drug’s approval within the United States despite pressure from the pharmaceutical company and FDA supervisors. Kelsey felt the application for thalidomide contained incomplete and insufficient data on its safety and effectiveness. Among her concerns was the lack of data indicating whether the drug could cross the placenta, which provides nourishment to a developing fetus.
She was also concerned that there were not yet any results available from U.S. clinical trials of the drug. Even if these data where available, however, they may not have been entirely reliable. At the time, clinical trials did not require FDA approval, nor were they subject to oversight. The “clinical trials” of thalidomide involved distributing more than two and a half million tablets of thalidomide to approximately 20,000 patients across the nation—approximately 3,760 women of childbearing age, at least 207 of whom were pregnant.
Moral of this story? Kids are nigh on bullet proof with regard to COVID19, but it is still unknown whether their future health and well-being are equally immune to the still untested long term effects of COVID19 vaccines. Given this doubt, it seems a much more cautious decision for parents to choose to continue to saddle them with face masks until the CDC concedes otherwise — and in the meantime, keep them away from COVID19 vaccinations until testing of these vaccines is much more complete and thorough than it is now.
Scientifically and medically-speaking, this viewpoint shouldn’t be controversial, but it is proving to be so.
Population control, anyone? I can’t help but see the connection to similar concerns with immunocontraceptives (which have notably been in the works for decades, but are still not approved for human trials, as far as I know). https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/7502099/
Funny, though, you’d think it would be the kids - not the adults - subscribing to the myth of a heroic vaccine that creates an invisible shield around you to deflect all of the bad viruses attacking you. I’m not anti-vax, but I am pro several years long clinical trials before giving a green-light to any injectables.
The kids and I actually just got over having covid (likely that new mutated breakthrough strain), and the oldest was actually aghast, “THIS is what we’ve been wearing masks for all this time?!”
